The Dining Room Because a restaurant is not made in the kitchen aloneā¦
Today there is much talk about chefs, who have become almost "superstars", somewhat like famous musicians or great footballers.
I, however, chose the dining room. It is there that the restaurant's atmosphere is created: where Andrea's dishes meet the people seated at the table and cuisine becomes lived experience.
The dining room is the place of hospitality and conviviality.
Recently we decided to redesign it to better reflect what we have become over time, both professionally and personally. New tables, comfortable chairs, softer lighting: an updated space, without losing our sense of proportion.
The atmosphere remains informal, but with more subdued tones: soft lighting, low chromatic volumes. The kind of environment where you can speak peacefully, without having to raise your voice.
We continue not to use tablecloths: we prefer fabric-covered table surfaces, simpler and less formal. What I would like is for you to sit comfortably when you dine with us, without too much formality. The rest is done by the service, the dishes, and, if you wish, a friendly chat at the table.
The dining room today has clean lines and soft colors: tables covered in dark fabric, comfortable chairs in shades of yellow and petrol green, wooden flooring and dark wood paneling on the walls. An informal yet measured atmosphere, with soft lighting and few elements, without embellishments. It is a space designed for relaxation, to speak calmly and let the dishes and wines do the rest.
Even today, after 10 years, I find myself admiring the view from the large windows facing southwest.
From there the eye falls upon Monprivato di Castiglione and then sweeps toward La Morra and the Barolo hills. On the right evenings the sunset literally enters the dining room, with the light making its rounds as the courses unfold.
The walls continue to speak of the territory: natural tones, deep greens and textured surfaces evoke the vineyards, woods and earth around us. A contemporary interior, but with a precise reference: the Langhe beyond the windows.
